lay lady lay, lay across my big brass bed

I love the idea of spending lazy weekend afternoons laying all day in my bed, swallowed by my mass of pillows and blankets. I am a summertime bum, and I lounge in my sleepwear all day like it's my job. Apparently I have a few tricks to learn from these glam vixens, who make laying in a swath of pillows an art

A model for Biba looks her vamp finest

Genius use of the tiger rug as a blanket over the coach - and I want that marabou-and-silk robe, and that long cigarette holder (and I don't even smoke!)

I love Brittany Murphy's penthouse in Uptown Girls

Penelope Tree looks divine in her equally as divine surrounding

The 'fabulous destiny' of Amélie apparently also included the coolest digs in all of the 18th arrondissement

From Urban Outfitters' latest catalog - minus the orgy-like setting, I want everything that's in this photo

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart lay outside in style - and quite literally In Style

A scene from Emmanuelle

Lauren Hutton is in model form in these gorgeous dresses and chairs

There is nothing I do not covet in this photo of Louise Ebel

Mia Farrow matches - or clashes, depending on who you ask - with this flowery red couch in an equally as much floral frock

Sylvia Kristel - star of Emmanuelle - rivals her own onscreen photo in this mass of pillows and lace

Nicky Samuel matches dress to rug to tapestry to perfection while modeling Ossie Clark

Stripped down, chrome and glowing, Olivia Wilde is va-va-voom in Tron: Legacy

Peggy Lipton reviews scripts and snuggles up in a knit blanket for Life Mag

Tina Aumont, captured in all her bohemian glory in a home movie

I want all of Peggy Moffitt's pillows here - she wouldn't mind, would she?

Jane Birkin - a goddess in furs

Truman Capote in his glam apartment

suddenly someone is there at the turnstyle, the girl with kaleidoscope eyes

I have been having a very lovely email chat with a dolly out there who was in search of some inspirational eye makeup, similar to our beloved glam hippie. Her request got me thinking about my own makeup routine. I've been in this tragic winter rut where I feel accomplished if I swab on some eye liner and quickly pinch an eyelash curler through my lashes. Well, that will not do! I'm supplying some fab photos to help us all through the winter drear, hopefully giving you all a little inspiration to lift your spirits (and your lashes!)
With colors galore, glitter, shimmer, and tons of lashes, here are my favorite girls with kaleidoscope eyes:

Twiggy looks marvelous, abandoning her mod androgyny for a mass of curls (and stars!) and heavily contoured colors

Lauren Hutton opts for muted colors of burgundy, purple and orange for a startlingly gorgeous result

I loved when it was de rigueur in fashion of the sixties to paint your eyelids so heavily that they would droop!

Anjelica Huston rocked the scant-eyebrow look, compensating with tons of color on her lids

So many eyes, so little time! From the Pablo Manzoni crafted look in the upper left corner, to lady bug lids and petal lashes - so much inspiration!

Elizabeth Taylor is most famous for her violet eyes, but it's interesting to see how her different films - like Cleopatra and Doctor Faustus - played them up in different ways

Biba babe and supermodel Ingrid Boulting

Lovely hippie face paint

Jean Shrimpton is a constant source of makeup inspiration - her eyes are gorgeously full, it's easy to see how she captivated the likes of David Bailey and the editors of Vogue and Harper's

From lash line to eye brow, green shadow in varying shades is perfect for any occasion!

Marissa Berenson is the ultimate beauty - I love her looks here rocking silver glitter, caterpillar lashes, and electric shadow

Various covergirls of the sixties, sporting shadows, shimmers, and jewels

Pamela Des Barres (and the rest of the GTO's - check out the star eyes in the left photo!) always looked lovely with her painted-on lashes, half-moon creases, and hearts

Peggy Moffitt - always so daring, and yet so perfect. I don't think she ever misstep with her look

A Peggy-inspired film, Who Are You Polly Maggoo?, shows a young model in similar Moffitt makeup

Runway models of today sport the over-the-top glam look on their eyes

Hippie face paint - such a dream!

The rebel girl of the modeling world, Veruschka, was never one to shy away from the most daring looks and editorial creations - she always pushed the envelope of what was 'beautiful'

Another one of fashion's bad gals, Donyale Luna, rocks some serious ear gear and eye paint
