MILEY CYRUS, JUSTIN BIEBER, LADY GAGA & JONAS BROTHERS UP FOR WEIRDEST AWARD EVER 2011

SHORT OF AN AWARD FOR INTERESTING FOOT SHAPE OR EAR HAIR ANYWAY.

Ahh Selena Gomez will be gutted she's missing out on the nominations for this bad-boy! Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, The JoBros and Gaga herself will be swinging their handbags and getting their claws out over who should be the rightful winner of entry into the Bowling Hall of Fame.

Yes. Bowling.

Taylor Swift just beat Justin Bieber to the glory last year, so 2011's competition is sure to be heated.

Seeing as you can only vote if you live in the USA it's not actually that relevant to us, but a great opportunity for us to think of awards that the celebs should really be nominated for. E.g. Gaga could go for the 'I know you can see my nipple that's the point' award, and the JoBros could be a strong contender to bag the award for Crap Hair.

Then and Now: the Louise Brooks Hairstyle

The original 'do done by '20s starlet Louise Brooks has remained a popular style for almost a century

Agyness Deyn makes the short bob her own with her signature platinum locks

Audrey Tautou in Amelie

Anna Wintour has made this cropped pageboy-inspired style her signature for decades, even sporting deep chocolate locks like Louise in the 1990s

Anne Hathaway takes the look for a spin

Brigitte Bardot tries the style in the Godard masterpiece Le Mépris

Cate Blanchett manages to make an Indiana Jones villain likeable with a chic crop

Christina Ricci claimed she felt like she "looked like an anime character" with her dramatic bob while portraying Trixie in the film Speed Racer

Jane Birkin wigs out

Kate Bosworth hams it up in a photobooth-style session complete with cropped hair and black feathers - very va-va-voom

Katie Holmes made a name for herself in the fashion world when she debuted this daring 'do

Gaga ooh la la! Is it any coincidence Lady Gaga rocks the same hairstyle that Vogue editor Anna Wintour has worn for years, as well as featured in her magazine on the likes of Halle Berry and Natalie Portman (both seen in this post)?

Melanie Griffith is Something Wild in a film of the same name with a dramatic 'do and pounds of costume jewelry

Celebs like Jena Malone, Michelle Williams (of Destiny's Child), Kristen Stewart, and Selma Blair all rock the look

From the tender age of twelve in Leon: The Professional to an all-grown-up look in Closer and on the pages of Vogue, Natalie Portman makes the 'do a do at any age

when i'm down and i feel like giving up, i think again, i whip my hair back and forth

It's much more than just a hair flip (that would be too Bieberesque) - it's a hair whip. Apparently it's quite hard to master, because there are instructions how to do it properly. If you don't feel like reading (and really - who ever does these days?), then just take some pointers from the women who have done it right

The supermodel spawn of Keith Richards and Patti Hansen, the uber cool Theodora Richards

I don't know about y'all, but whenever I'm nude from the waist down in the middle of a meadow, I love whipping my hair

Jane Birkin, who possessed the most lusted-after locks of the sixties, put her enviable head of hair to good use

The lovely Lauren Hutton in the pages of Vogue during the sixties

Amanda Seyfried is cleverly masked behind her cascade of blonde curls

Dakota Fanning tries her hand (or head, more precisely) at the whip

Like Theodora Richards, Georgia May Jagger is the daughter of a Rolling Stone (care to guess which one?) and his supermodel spouse (his former wife Jerry Hall)

Kate Moss whips and flips effectively in her Topshop campaign

She's portrayed Brigitte Bardot and been the Marianne of France, but Laetitia Casta faced her most difficult challenge of her career when she was asked to whip back and forth

The fashion house Lanvin certainly knows what the modern day woman wants - ferocious dresses and headbanging good fun - as revealed in their Spring 2011 campaign

A beautiful photograph by Lina Scheynius
Patti Hansen, alongside her then-beau Keith Richards, attending one of Bebe Buell's concerts

A strikingly non-short haired Twiggy, captured by Richard Avedon, in one of my favorite photographs ever

A young Jane Fonda does her best bombshell impression

A Janis Joplin-inspired shoot for Fashion Rocks Magazine

I was on the search for the "unbelievable" (according to a Facebook group dedicated to it) hair flip made by Gaga in the "Video Phone" video. Alas, I could not find an image. But, as you can see, Gaga hair tosses are not an uncommon phenomenon.

The lovely Jane Birkin, in the book Birds of Britain

Gossip Girl starlet Leighton Meester (with locks like that, is it any surprise she's a spokesmodel for Herbal Essences?)

Ann-Margret shows off her moves - and catches the eye of all the fellahs - in Bye Bye Birdie

The woman nine-year-old who started it all: Willow

I love this dreamy video of Lily Donaldson, captured by her father, photographer Matthew Donaldson. A two-second, 360 degree hair spin is slowed down to a hypnotic degree, turning the brief moment into a 1,000-frames-per-second work of art.
