This past week has been one of those terrible, long drawn-out weeks with a seemingly never-ending list of to-do's. All I want to do for the rest of the weekend is lay in my bed, eat bits of English toffee, read my stack of untouched glossies (Vogue US - I've only briefly checked out the pepto-pink Gaga but I love it already, Lucky, Marie Claire, Nylon, Elle, and Glamour) and sleep, sleep, sleep!
What are your plans (for this week/weekend/life)? I'm sure infinitely more exciting than mine!
The everlasting lovely Marilyn Monroe
Marianne Faithfull, looking every inch the rock star in late 1968
The beautiful Brigitte Bardot
Edie Sedgwick, in the Warhol film Beauty No. 2
Audrey Hepburn takes a 'cat nap' as Holly Golightly
Sisters Catherine Deneuve and Françoise Dorléac lounge in their bunk beds
Czech cult classic Daisies (aka Sedmikrásky) features best friends who are both named Marie lounging in mid-60s fantasticalness
Edie Sedgwick ponders life as Susan Superstar in Ciao! Manhattan
Marianne, in a scene with Girl on a Motorcycle costar Alain Delon
A scene from the epic campaign for Miss Dior Cherie, by Miss Sofia Coppola
Edie relaxes with Factory friends Andy Warhol, Gerard Malanda, and Chuck Wein
Eva Green is Parisian bohémienne Isabelle in Bernardo Bertoluci's The Dreamers
How cozy does Kirsten Dunst look as the young dauphine Marie Antoinette, with her Austrian pup Mops?
One of my favorite actresses, Natalie Wood, in one of my favorite of her films Splendor in the Grass
Penelope Tree in a perfectly floral boudoir
The Indian transformation of the attic in A Little Princess completely transformed my ideas about magic, imagination, and what I wanted to decorate my bedroom to look like
Mia Farrow looks surprisingly well-rested as the photographer mistress of a Russian counter-espionage agent in A Dandy in Aspic
I wish I could be served breakfast in bed and write my correspondences while wearing a fabulously furry robe
Scarlett Johansson perfectly channels the airy, light, dreamy beauty of Sofia Coppola's creations, as done in Lost in Translation
Anita Pallenberg and onscreen love interest Mick Jagger snooze the day away in Performance
Real-life lovers Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg cozy up onscreen (but Jane - watch his arm!)
Godard muse and queen of the French New Wave, Anna Karina
Brigitte Bardot lounges in the gorgeous Italian setting of Le Mépris
Daria Werbowy, Kate Moss, and Lara Stone all cuddle up under the covers
A makeup-free Drew Barrymore lets us know how she looks when she wakes up in the morning. And the female population grows even more jealous
In Secret Ceremony, Mia Farrow clutches onto her would-be mama Elizabeth Taylor
I love how artfully arranged Marianne's hair looks on that pillow in Motorcycle
(What, don't you guys wake up in the morning looking like this, too?)
All that modeling can tire a girl out! Twiggy catches up on her rest (but still keeps those fantastic false lashes!)
Eva Green is all tuckered out in The Dreamers
Title: from "I'm Only Sleeping" (The Beatles)
